The most important part of working with databases...  

Have a look at 'Oracle Design', Dave Ensor & Ian Stevenson.  

But if you have not already, I would urge you to attend a training course. It is a complex, subtle area, and not easily learned from text books alone. You also need to decide which methodology and standards you want to follow.
