Nuno,

The claim is "The sar command supports a parameter that would allow overwriting of any file." I don't have time right now to check if that is true (never heard of it, though that's definitely not conclusive evidence). Just asked for sudo sar -P ALL for the time being.

That's weird. I'm not aware of any security issues relating to sar and its use. Sounds like paranoia mode just because the thing might have the setuid bit on. Which means nothing as far as security goes, unless sar allows interactive command shells. Which it doesn't.
