Ken - My take is that Microsoft sees it as an opportunity to undercut Linux. Reminds me of the old Arab proverb "My enemy's enemy is my friend". SCO is currently suing IBM over its work with Linux. I think Microsoft sees a possible opportunity to drive a wedge in the Linux/Unix camp. I don't think it means Microsoft has finally seen the light that there is a better platform than Windows. And off-topic? I think we DBAs need to keep informed on the industry maneuvers that may affect us.

There has appeared a news article stating that MS signed a licensing agreement with SCO for their unix. Does this mean that SQL Server will be offered on the SCO OS in the future?

Your comments please.

Thanks,
