Hi!

Is there a way o use the RMAN duplicate command (or any other RMAN functionality) to clone our production database (8.1.7) to a new server
(9.2.0)?

The tricky thng is that the production db is 8.1.7 and the new db is supposed to be 9i.

Or is the only way to clone 8.1.7 to 8.1.7 and then install 9i binaries on new machine and migrate the database from 8i to 9i?

This is 8.1.7 / 9.2.0 on Sun Solaris.

Thanks,
Helmut
