How do you handle a requirement to install database options later -- after the database is live ?

Owing to budget constraints, a new database implementation in 9i will be going without
the Partitioning Option. The ORACLE_HOME will be installed without the option. Later, after a year [when business improves and IT get's bigger budgets] we plan to
install the Partitioning Option.

How difficult is it to install an option and re-apply RDBMS patches later ?

Consider options like

  1. Partitioning Option
  2. Advanced Replication
  3. Advanced Security Option
