RE: Increasing the size of a data file

1. Nope. I just did this today, no problems.
2. Not really. If the original datafile was 100M initially, you wouldn't want to create another datafile just because you used the 100M up, just add more.
3. Resizing the datafile to add space, unless the disk you're trying to grab space on is almost full, in which case you'd need to add an additional datafile somewhere else or do some datafile shuffling.

1. wouldn't you need to bring the database offline to resize the datafile?
2. will it not be easier to just add another datafile?
