Corruption, not that I've seen. Unless you compile the kernel w/ extended memory translation turned on. The default looks something like:

    CONFIG_NOHIGHMEM=y
    # CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G is not set
    # CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G is not set
