Markus - Well, you're really going in deep there. Perhaps someone with
direct iAS experience will reply. I'm not aware of a separate list for that
product. I can even visualize that you are pioneering on this one. What is
your motivation for wanting to just install the SSO portion? Is licensing
cheaper? Sometimes when you are installing a new product for the first time
you encounter fewer problems if you just follow the most vanilla
installation possible, and get it working. Support will have better answers
to any problems you encounter. Then (ideally on a separate server) you can
try another install tailored to your needs, and if you encounter problems
you can quickly compare to the first system that works. My apologies for
being really vague here, maybe someone more knowledgeable will reply. Best

thx for replying - to make it more precise: we were looking for a way to install an oracle product - called iAS-1.0.2.2.2-portal's SingleSignOn - without installing the portal features. This would be even less than the minimum installation of the iAS 1.0.2.2.2. Actually we thought about a webbased tool to grant access to certain oracle applications. As we use novell for ldap services and later on OID, and as OID and NOVELL can cooperate via an interface we meant everything could be fine, if here was just one way (-> sso) to authenticate for users (students and staff) via a webbased application. Other applications means some are webbased, oracle forms (not yet but later on webbased), oracle reports (n.y.b.l.o.w.).

Markus - I'm not sure quite what you are asking, but since no one has
replied, I will make a stab and maybe you can clarify your objectives. SSO
means different things to different people. If you are a Microsoft shop,
with everybody's email on Outlook, then SSO means Microsoft Active
Directory. I understand that Active Directory complies with the LDAP
standard and Oracle also complies with that. If your Oracle users log into a
Unix system, I understand that Active Directory can control security on the
Unix server, and then you can use the Unix security to control access to
Oracle. Does this address the issues you are interested in?
