Paul & Barb,
To assume that Anjo, or any other person on the list, is infallible is wrong. We are all human beings who on occasion make mistakes and/or misstatements. If that were not true I'd not be the gopher I am, but a GOD.
I also agree with Anjo, Buffer cache hit ratio's don't matter. If they did we'd never need disk drives as everything would be in memory. Our databases would also be a whole lot smaller and useless.

BTW, I was really depressed about not hearing the webcast and think that is why I even had the dream.

I honestly did not mean to imply that Anjo was wrong. I truly think he is a guru in the field and have been reading his work for many years now. I don't even put myself in his category to be able to critisize him. I am so sorry if that was what my message came across as. I just wanted to relay it to you because I really had the dream and thought it was funny. Please I am so sorry for offending anyone. Especially anyone of the caliber of Anjo. In fact, if I ever saw him in person I would get down on my knees and say "I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy..."

Paula:
Had you listened to the webcast, you would have earned the right to
criticize it. Anjo did NOT say that db_block_buffers do not matter. (I did
listen to the webcast.)
Anjo has contributed greatly to the oracle-l list on several occasions. To imply on the list that he was not correct was rather insensitive, especially since you were mistaken in your assertions.
