Some folks in Oracle kernel development have assured me that it is
impossible to compute this. There's a SET_bool_param_in_session, but no
GET_bool_param_in_session. The most recent note I got indicated that the
guys in development still believe it's impossible to write the GET
function...

Dave,
That table show which global paremeters are set
The question was "how do you tell when a session has sql trace set, ie.
is
it capturing all information to a trc file in the udump area"
I do not know the answer myself, somebody has suggested it is held in
the
memory structure and that seems a good bet to me

If I remember correctly, I read an reply by Steve Adams that this trace
flag
is in the PGA (??) so not possible to find.

O Wise Men/Women ... please correct me if I am wrong ...

Hi Dave,

Thanks but the command does not work.

In SQLPLUS,
SQL> alter SESSION SET SQL_TRACE=TRUE
  2 /
Session altered.
SQL> SHOW PARAMETER SQL_TRACE
unknown SHOW option "PARAMETER"
unknown SHOW option "SQL_TRACE"

I am using Oracle Database 8.1.6. Any other suggestions ? Thanks.

Regds,
New Bee
