>From what I have read there is no official limitations on the max number of
tablespaces. But it cannot be higher than 65534 because that is max number of datafiles per database. As a datafile can belong only to one tablespace, there can only be up to 65534 tablespaces.

        The max number of datafiles per tablespace depends on OS and most of them, it is 1022.

that's datafiles PER tablespace, not total for the database... and I believe that is in the docs
