Hi All,

Suppose I have a SQL statement like

select c.contentid,content_pkg.getlicences(c.contentid) from content

which calls a package.

    If I replace it with

select c.contentid,(select licences from licences where contentid =c.contentid) from content

would there be any difference in performance ?

I know this is trivial but in my quest for solving an open_cursor problem in Oracle8i I have noticed that unnamed cursors do not get closed. The first statement calls a package which calls an unnamed cursor, increases the number of open cursors by 1.

The second statement does not increase the number of open cursors. Is it feasible to replace the first statement by the second ?

I would appreciate any help,

Thank You,

Gavin
