RE: Oracle Migration 8.1.6.0 to 8.1.7.2

Ken:
I asked this question of the list several weeks ago, and got no reply. I installed 8.1.7.0 on the system, patched up to 8.1.7.3, and then upgraded my test database.
I now want to go directly to exactly the same code tree with my production database because (1) it's been tested with exactly that installed version, and (2) I don't have enough space to install yet another 8.1.7.0 code tree. (I need to keep the 8.0.5 code tree around, at least until the upgrade is complete. I need to keep 8.1.7.3 up for test. So I'd need 3 code trees at once if forced to re-install 8.1.7.0)

Oracle has gotten more adamant about claiming you need to go to vanilla first, but I've yet to see a reason why.

If you get any more info, please share.

Thanks!
Barb
