I notice they took the OS-related courses out of the Masters program, a few
years ago they told me I didn't qualify because I had learned windows NT
from Microsoft trainers, they wanted me to take the same courses from them.

I was shocked.

Speaking of OCP...I got this from the OCP newsletter...I guess Oracle needs
more revenue streams...

Dear Oracle Certified Professional, 
Please acknowledge this correspondance as an official notification in
regards to your pursuit of Oracle Certification.

The Oracle Certification credential continues to provide leverage to those
who have earned it, leading to increased demand for Oracle Certified
Professionals among hiring managers. To help meet this demand and increase
the value of the credential, Oracle is investing heavily in the betterment
of certification exams and learning offerings. Oracle customers and business
partners demand that their Oracle Certified Professionals have hands-on
experience with all aspects of the Oracle database. To meet our commitment
to customers and constituents, three distinct changes are being rolled out
with the goal of increasing the level of quality of our certification skill
and ability benchmarks:

Scenario-based testing in all new Oracle Certified Professional track exams
(as of January, 2002) 
Instructor-led class requirement for all Oracle9i DBA Certified
Professionals (as of June 15, 2002) 
A new hands-on Masters Practicum (available October, 2002) 
The OCP Oracle9i DBA track requires four tests: two required tests for OCA
certification plus two additional tests. Oracle now also requires (as of
June 15, 2002) that all newly starting OCP credential candidates complete
one hands-on course with Oracle University in preparation for their exams
and future role as an Oracle technologist. 

Because you are already an Oracle Certified Professional, you are not
required to complete any course requirements to upgrade your credential to
Oracle9i status. You will simply be required to take the appropriate OCP DBA
upgrade exam(s).

The Masters Practicum exam will be launched during October 2002 at regional
centers around the globe. This credential will prove to the market that each
Oracle Certified Master has demonstrated the ability to be successful on the
job. To learn more about this credential, view our website's section
specific to the OCM program. The program requires that candidates first earn
their OCP for Oracle9i, and then complete two advanced courses from Oracle
University. The website includes a list of courses that can be applied to
meet the requirement. After fulfilling the course requirement, candidates
can schedule an appointment for their practicum exam. The exam is a two-day
event at a regional Oracle University center involving hands-on,
job-performance-based testing using Oracle9i Database technologies.
