LINUX ORACLE INSTALL ERROR

I have succesfully installed oracle 8.0.5 on LINUX 
redhat 7.1 BUT


when I want to run sqlplus or lsnrctl it gives 
SEGMENTATION FAULT error.


and creates core dump files. 


Why does this occur? Has anyone experienced this 
before ?
