V$system_event does not aggregate correctly?

Did anybody notice that some events in v$system_event don't show correctly what happens in the running sessions.

When I run some jobs I can see a lot of waits (and big waiting times) on "Direct path Write" and when I run to v$system_event I do not see any changes on the time_waited that reflect these waits.

The same applies to many other events!

Do I miss something here?

Oracle 8.1.7.2 on Solaris 2.6

Regards,

Waleed
