Tuning for 9iAS Portal

Has anyone tuned for 9iAS Portal?

I installed 9iAS Portal and 8.1.7 on 2 different AIX nodes with 2GB of memory on each. There are only 1-3 developers using it so far. No other applications are in the database, or on the system.

It takes 5-15 seconds when going from one tab to another in Navigator and when creating components and content areas. I am not accessing any user tables, only trying the standard screens.

I had faster response times on 2 Win2000 boxes with quite a bit less memory.

  1. Is the place to look in the database, or the Apps Server?
  2. Would configuring Web Cache or DB Cache help?

Are there any suggestions to tune any of the above? I know how to tune a database that does not run Portal. What parameters are important for Portal?

TIA,
Gary Fox
