Hi,

My UNIX skills are next to nothing...but I am trying to set up an Oracle database on a HP-UX system. I have managed to do most things except one thing.

I need the root user to be able to run svrmgrl and create/modify a database and objects within the database.

I have added the root user to the dba group and set the appropriate Oracle environment variables in "root's" .profile file, however whenever I invoke svrmgrl I get a ORA 12456 error.

Could someone please help me!

Thanks in advance
