And this 300/1200 Boud rate modems were without error correction mode resulting lot of garbage in between specially working from subcontinent to dialin in UK or USA machines...Same modems were working well if worked within USA or UK....That was 1990-91 era....

Yeah - but then the 1200 baud modems came out - now THOSE were speedy. And after I saw my friend's 1200, my 300 was like molasses.
