> What famous character was used to first advertise the IBM PC?
Charlie Chaplin, easy one.

correct.

> Was it possible to connect two screens to the original IBM PC?
How?

I believe I did one through a Hercules graphics card, but dont quote me.

Yes - one with the monochrome screen, one through the CGA Adapter. Ah, high-tech.

> How many boot disks did computers require before 1982?

        0
correct - the OS was on a ROM chip. There may have been some
computers which required an OS boot disk, but I didn't know about them. When I realized that the IBM PC was going to require one, I thought: "What a hassle." I liked the Apple IIE way of doing things much better. Except for the tiny screen. Come to think of it, for Apple to now be popular with graphics designers, etc., is quite a reversal.

> How would you convert a 1-sided 5 ¼" diskette into a 2-sided one?

Flip the floppy and cut a notch. I actually used scissors. I loved it when

they came out with those precise clippers.

Correct. We actually used a small nail clipper! Hmmm any chance you can write on the top side of a CD?

> How did the Commodore Pet make use of hard disk drives? Floppy
drives?

        Never had one, sorry.
The OS was in ROM. They started instantly at the flip of a switch.

> What colour were the Verbatim 5 ¼" diskette pockets?
Was it grey? Was that 3Ms? I remember paying 50 bucks for 10 floppies. I thought it was a great deal!! They were bright pink. I noticed six months ago that the company
still exists, I hadn't seen any of their products anywhere in over a decade.

> What IBM PS/2 model was listed as having a 2.88M diskette drive?

Sorry, I went with all the generic PCs.

Model 60. The PS/2 line died because IBM tried to market the proprietary MicroChannel Architecture. Competitors went around them with EISA. What version of Windows did OS/2 not support? Why not? Windows95. Because Microsoft would not release them the source code, so they could build a shell. IBM probably got the right to see the Win3.1 source code because back then OS/2 was a joint project.

> Did the first macintosh computer come with a handle?
What is an MWave Windsurfer card?
A modem card with integrated answering machine and phone message logging. I don't know if they still make this.

Which company could be argued started the certification fad in IT? I would say Novell, for 3.12. Then they tried to force people to upgrade their certification to 4.01, and suddenly the MCSE became extremely popular.

> Bonus points: What figurines appear on PC Magazine Vol 1., Issue
1's

        cover?
        Wooden string puppets.

issue 1, vol
> 1... heh heh I wonder what happened).
> Extremely important entertainment bonus question: What cartridges
came with
> the Atari 2600 game system upon initial purchase?
Asteroids, I think. I vaguely remember that it was Biplane and Casino. Asteroids was
sold separately. There may have been a third "free" cartridge though.
