Hi,

if you setup a group of disks as a RAID5 disk array, they appear as one logical unit. Hence, you only see one single mount point. Advantages: Read access is usually faster, since the data is transparantly distributed to your disks by the RAID system. It's another step towards higher availability since RAID5 usually gives you the feature of replacing a damaged disk while the file system keeps operating. Disadvantage: You don't have that much control over the degree of fragmentation since the data distribution is done by the RAID system.
