note the small child ("caganer", literally translated as "shitter") squatting in the middle of the picture just above and left of the base of the tree trunk.

The picture was purchased by Hemingway in Paris. Miro supposedly started it in catalunya, and finished after he moved to france. illustrates the combined catalan obsessions of organic rural themes and orderliness, and is considered an excellent example of "enyorada" (sp?) (extreme homesickness growing from a profound sense of loss about the familiarities of the beloved motherland.)

The Miro museum in Barcelona is excellent, it is also in a fantastic location, on a small wooded mountain overlooking the "barri gotic", old city.
