Gillian,

    Why would you want to keep alert log data for 2000?  I just keep the data
where I've had to open a TAR.  Otherwise I just remove the alert log every time
the database gets recycled.

What is the easiest way to trim the alert log. It sits
on a solaris box, so I will be using VI.

I need to keep just 2001 data. Every else I have to
put in another file to go off to tape.
