Working on RMAN, but we're running 8.0.5 and 8.1.6 - a little tricky. Also I'm not comfortable with the restores yet. Since data availability is my #1 concern, I'll continue hot backup scripts for some time to come. Once upon a time Ferenc Mantfeld guided me through a block level recovery using scripted backups. I'll never be able to repay him for the advice, but it gave me absolute confidence in my ability to restore given a very "plain-jane" set of tools to work with. David A.
