Question on STATS PACK

In Steve's Aug newsletter he says DBMS_STAT pack creates x_$ views. I have run the scripts and I didn't see any views that are x_$. I have run statspack on two different databases(8.1.6) and I didn't see on both of them. I am missing something here. Can anyone confirm.
