Kirsten,

I wouldn't really get hung up about the Buffer cache. (There was a lot of acromonious exchanges previously on this list on this issue). As Chuck pointed out, it depends on the application and access criteria... If you feel that there is a performance issue, then you could query the V$SYSTEM_EVENT (after setting TIMED_STATISTICS = TRUE), look at Top10 I/O intensive SQLs and take it from there. After all, we are bothered about the amount of time/resources spent WAITING and not some mythical figure for the Buffer Cache ratio. Granted there are other ratios that are important. However, I wouldn't put this ratio at the top of my list.... You can visit http://www.hotsos.com for a paper on this.
