UNIX named pipe buffer size

Is it possible to increase the internal buffer size for a named pipe? How? Our AIX Unix seems to use a 32K buffer. I tried to pass 40G through the pipe from SyncSort to SQL*Loader (direct). It took 12 hours!!! I don't want to save the SyncSort ourput, as I don't have an additional 40G. Any other ideas?

Thanx,
