Hi,

I m trying to get the backup from my one server to another server. i copy my redo log file, control file and datafiles into my new server except temp1.dbf file. Now when i startup the databse its giving me error like this :

SQL> startup
ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area 118255568 bytes
Fixed Size 282576 bytes
Variable Size 83886080 bytes
Database Buffers 33554432 bytes
Redo Buffers 532480 bytes
ORA-00209: control file blocksize mismatch, check alert log for more info

Is anybody help me its urgent.

Ensure that correct spfile has been taken. Try with the pfile startup force pfile=pfilename.
If failed then,
check alert log.

ORA-00209: control file blocksize mismatch, check alert log for more info
 *Cause: The block size in the control file header does not match the
         size specified in the DB_BLOCK_SIZE parameter.
 *Action: Look at the alert log for more information.

where to get the alert log file in the hard disk?

pls mention clearly as i m new in the oracle

Check user_dump_dest parameter in your init<SID>.ora file which is in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory.
