Hi guyz,
I am able to connect to my databse using
SQL> conn suren/suren@sct
Connected.

But i heard somewhere that we can connect using username and password only;

for that i have set ORACLE_SID=c:\oracle\oradata\sct;.;

but still its not working,it shows the following error.

SQL> connect suren/suren
ERROR:
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

all services are active for oracle.

Why did you choose this collection of incorrect characters?
Do you know what is your SID?
Are you logged directly on the same system where the DB resides?

Sometimes I have the strange feeling that some randomly try things and as this of course doesn't work, post.

How to make them understand that Oracle is not a toy and it needs read and work to make it work?

Regards
Michel

This OP may have used this forum a WONR drive (as opposed to WORM); Write Once Never Read (Write Once Read Many)

I've noticed that you are an early morning person base upon when you start online every day.
You are usually up before I go to bed; which is Goodness for this forum.
We have it covered 24x7.

More later!

You didn't answer to this question.
Do we have to assume that you don't?
