Hi Guys, I’m a little confused with the Oracle 10g Certification in Associate Level (OCA).

I would like to ask some questions and to ask some suggestions too.

Well the fact is that I’m studding for the first exam of Oracle9i the 1Z0-007 (introduction to SQL) but a good friend has suggested to me to try with Oracle 10g certification.
Then I want to do the OCA for Oracle 10g but in this page:
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_041
And this one
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_042
I saw that there is no introduction to SQL in the exam.

My questions are:
- What is the difference between 1Z0-041 and 1Z0-042?

-The 1Z0-0042 is just one exam? (In OCA for Oracle 9i are two)?

- Can be useful to get the first exam of Oracle 9i 1Z0-007 and after that to do the 1Z0-042? (Anyway at moment I haven’t knowledge of administration yet).

- Why is not available the 1Z0-041 in the Prometric site?

I’ll appreciate all your comments and suggestions

Best Regards

Marcos

Hi thanks a Lot for your reply.
Well, If possible I’ll like to know some additional details also.

Why I don’t see the Sql Exam in the Oracle 10g? Oracle is not requesting SQL for DBAs?

What about the 1Z0-041?
For OCA with Oracle 10g, just I need the Oracle Database 10g Administration I exam -1Z0-042 ?

Can be useful to get the first exam of Oracle 9i 1Z0-007 and after that to do the 1Z0-042? (Anyway at moment I haven’t knowledge of administration yet).

Thanks

hi friend,

I am also preparing for OCA of oracle 10g.
Like you, i had also faced the same confusion.
But at last, according to the kind advise of my proffesors and friends, i decided to prepare for OCA.
And i think you should too..
Dear, they tell me, always try to learn the latest version or technology. 10g is having very strong features which make it important to our field, so...
Hope this helps you clear your confusion..

Regards and best luck..

Agree.
but if we choose Oracle 9i certification then it has
FOUR paper.. and very depth in concept.
but in ORACLE 10G. just TWO PAPER.
Not enough for newbie.

yes you can go for Oracle 10g if you have any previous exprience on oracle technology.

For Oracle 10g New feature you can upgrade youself from Oracle 9i to 10g. just pass one paper.

But >>> ORACLE 9I CERTIFICATION WILL BE DISCONTINUED IN END OF 2007.

and some time Oracle 11g WILL BE RELEASE. !!! Smile
so again confusion for ORACLE 10G or ORACLE 11G certification Smile

Regards
Taj
