Question
version 10.2.0.2
patch 6
o/s:windows 2003
both file servers are the same.
-
I have installed primary and physical standby
primary=pdb: file server: s01
standby=sdb: file server: s02
--
on a separate PC, I am installing the Oracle Data Guard Broke to monitor the database.
-
On the standby database, there is an WINDOW Service to startup the oracle database set to AUTOMATIC (window service)
-
It is my understanding, for the STANDBY database to startup, i need to issue
SQL >startup mount;
SQL >ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION;
-
Since I installed the oracle database with the >STARTER< database, I will need to drop the service and re-create the service using ORADIM
c:\oradim -NEW -SID v102g -INTPWD password -STARTMODE manual
--
Correct so far?
--
Ok, know if the primary database FAILSOVER or is SWITCHOVER(switch roles) to the standby database by the BROKER, then the WINDOW SERVICE I just re-created ON THE STANDBY will be wrong. If the STANDBY(which is know the primary)database File server is shutdown or loses power the service will try to startup in standby mode.
--
do I have to recreate the Windows Service EVERYTIME there is a switchover or failure?
--
I have not finished installing the Broker, but I can not see anything about RE-CREATEing a windows service in any documentation.
--
Has someone run into this on a window server?
