Hallo,
this is the first time i write to this forum. I installed Oracle 9.0.1.2.20 on our Z/OS System.
I was verry suprised that there is no possibility to install this product by using smp/e.
I would understand it, if Oracle would be an verry smal
Produkt. But this look more complex to me as i thougt.
What is the Reason not usinf smp/e ???

I've heard that Oracle is dropping the little SMPE support that was orginally provided in 8i. The product could be installed using SMPE, but patches still arrived in IEBCOPY format - defeating the main reason for using SMPE in the first place. I believe that Oracle's OS/390 support and development are run on a shoestring and removing SMPE is just one less thing for them to worry.
