Database Designer
Job Description
The candidate must lead the design, development and implementation of
an
***enterprise-wide database***. The individual must have experience
with
multiple modeling techniques and working with various types of data
structures. Experience must also include direct experience with
optimization
and performance tuning.
Design and develop logical and physical data models
Develop effective designs for source, target and meta data
Lead optimization and performance tuning initiatives
Analyze and resolve database related issues
Document processes and standards and administration procedures
Work closely with business analysis to identify appropriate sources
of data
Skills/Requirements
Required Skills
Strong enterprise data modeling knowledge and experience using
multiple
data modeling tools
Proficient in database design
Ability to design, develop and maintain enterprise database
Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving skill
Experience with Oracle 8i and 9i RDBMS
Hands on Oracle database administration experience
Extensive experience with SQL and PL/SQL
Experienced in creating store procedure, triggers and constraints
In depth knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design techniques
Proficient in System Architecture, including Database and System
performance tuning, as well as hardware and network workload balancing
Knowledge of UML Modeling (Activity Diagram, Class Diagram, Sequence
Diagram, Use Case Diagram, Deployment Diagram, etc.)
An understanding of the Java, J2EE and Web application environment
Excellent communication skills required. Ability to communication
effectively with both technical and business individuals
Ability to write clear concise documentation
Experience working in NT, Windows 2000, and Unix (Solaris)
environments
Ability to work independently
Knowledge of full life cycle of software development; requirements
analysis, design, development, testing, implementation
Desired Skills
Knowledge of application server (BEA Weblogic 7.0 or above, IBM
Websphere
or Oracle 9iAS)
Knowledge of middleware and security architectures
Knowledge of multiple data access tools
Knowledge of XML technology
Bachelors degree in Computer/Software Development, Information
Technology
or related discipline or equivalent experience
4+ years of database design, consulting, architecture design and
development experience
