Hi,
I tried to install oracle 8.1.7/8.1.6 on one of my win2000 servers. As soon as the setup.exe starts it displays the "install/de-install" options and that initial screen. One you select "install/de-install" it doesn't continue anymore. The installation works fine on most other machines. I checked the task manager and it looks the jrew.exe is failing to load properly. I looked at the oracle web site and it specifically says that the jre is used specially for oracle installation and it should not be tampered or replaced by anything else. Is there something you can change in the 2000 environment (java related) that will actually lauch the jrew? I even tried to uninstall all other java runtime environments on that machine. Nothing works. Help!!!
