Dear All EBS experts,

I want to migrate EBS Production server from OEL4.5 32-bit to OEL5.4 64-bit and also EBS version migrate from 12.0.6 to 12.1, what is the best way to migrate Operating system and EBS on 64-bit with new version of EBS. OEL4.5 server has live production data.

Platform migration (which I guess is what this would count as) can be very awkward. Last year, I moved an EBS from 32 bit Linux two nodes, to 64 bit AIX single node. The technique that succeeded (after several attempts) was: first, move the concurrent processing from database tier to middle tier; second, move the middle tier (including concurrent processing)from Linux to AIX; third, move the database tier from Linux to AIX. I believe the sequence is critical. The move from 12.0 to 12.1 would be a separate exercise.
Good luck - and when you've done it, please can you post your method and results? There isn't a lot of information about this sort of thing.

Hi,

On Oracle Support, there are a number of notes describing how to handle this.
You will have to do it in at least 2 steps. Upgrade to 12.1 and then migrate to 64-bit. There is no real dependency between these two steps.

The process to migrate to 64-bit is similar to cloning your environment. With a few additional steps to prepare for the 64-bit part.

Note: 471566.1 describes the process and links to other documents describing how to migrate the different tiers.
