In Toad, when I'm looking at a (described) table with a FK field, how can I find the name of that table to which the FK points? Thx.

F4 on the table name to bring up Describe window, then see Referential tab.

This doesnt always seem to provide correct info. It works on some tables but on others, when I do that on a table with a field name that beginds FK_, there is no parent or child table listed for it. Am I missing something?

It's quite possible to have FK named columns that have no associated FK constraint. View the constraints tab. FK contraints are of type "Referential integrity". These ones are represented on the Referential tab.

ok that was it--it said type: 'check' instead of 'referential integrity'--so for those FK fields, there is no associated table? Right?

right, the FK field naming convention just helps to spot the designer's thoughts - only the real FK constraint enforces anything.
