Hi,
I have installed oracle 9i on windows xp at home for test purpose. I have created a database using DBCA.
i found that the database accepts any login/password as sysdba apart from SYS/SYS or the password that i set during the database creation.
eg;
the database accepts asdf/asdf as sysdba and log in's...
but i set the sys/sandy as my log in id's to log in as sysdba.
Can anyone help me out. what could be the problem...

password file and its related parameter are only relevant for remote connection not local one.
You don't remove privileges from ORA_DBA, you have to remove users from ORA_DBA group.
