im creating a web which should includes a search function in C# using visual basic to search through my small volume database, im unsure of the way to create the string "variable" search.

for instance , someone typed a name in the search box, i would need to extract the name and put it into a variable then what do i do next?

could anyone help out?

I applaud your honesty, but question common sense.
Do you realize that this forum is for Oracle RDBMS & NOT SQL Server?
