Hi Experts,

Here is my platform:

Oracle Enterprise Linux AS 5
Oralce 10g R2

I am trying to configure ASM on my system (a single 40G disk), I installed the OS and
created two (2) partitions with sizes (/dev/hda2 - 9G and /dev/hda3 - 8G) besides the
main which is 19G with swap - 1.9G.

This is where I got stuck!!!!

Can anyone please gimme some guidelines on how to go about it. Actually, this just a
personal study.

I was hoping that when I configure ASM with DBCA it will see those partitions but
I don't know .... I think I'm missing something.

Please how can I create raw disk on my drive

I'll appreciate your effort.

Kind regards,

Cherish

Is there a specific error or something?
Did you follow all the steps as outlined in docs and here
http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle10gRAC.shtml#InstallingAndConfiguringAutomaticStorageManagementAndDisks

In DBCA, when you discover the paths , what is happening?
did your try with wildcards or /?
Are privs set?

Actually when I used DBCA to configure ASM ... it does not see those disk.

A friend just told me that I need to create those partitions as raw disk and he's kinda busy.

Can you please put me through creating raw device on disk.

Thanks for your effort.
