Hi,

I want to know the difference between oracle client and the server. Like I basically want to know the NLS_LANG settings of both the client and the server. Can anyone please tell me how to find out?

There is no issue.
NLS_LANG is:
- TERRITORY -> set it to the one you use
- LANGUAGE -> set it to the one you use
- CHARACTER SET -> set to the one you use, most often the same as the OS one.
This is true for both side.

Hi,

Thx for the reply. The Q I am asking may sound stupid but I want to clear my doubt. I have oracle installed in my system by our Technical Assistance group. I want to know if they have installed the client or the server. Please help.

Launch OUI (Oracle Universal Installer) and click on Installed Products.

Hi,

Thx for the reply. When I launch the OUI, I got something like this:-OraDb10g_home1
+>Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.1.0
Under this there plenty of products installed but nothing explicitly states if it is a client or a server.
