Predictions:

  1. Someone is about to re-invent functional data languages (Datalog).
  2. The re-invention of Datalog will lead to a re-discovery of why functional languages (while useful in their own context) aren't really useful for scalable data management (optimization needs an algebra).
  3. Everyone will agree that SQL sucks but nothing can be done about it.
