I first ran accross is in Coplien's "Advanced C++ Coding Styles and Idioms". I can't remember now if he used the word "property" or "principle". I started writing about it in '95 or so, and used the term "principle" because I liked the way it sounded when compared to "Pauli Exclusion Principle" or "Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle".
