what prompts the question is: I recall threads here and there which say
something like - XML is from SGML is from GML is from IBM & DEC 1960's
data transfer facilities - but none have provided (that I can recall)
names or even acronyms for these originating facilities. While surfing
for the answer (without success), I thought that it certainly seems
plausible that such a facility would exist in the IMS world, from the
start. ???/IMS/XML, the family tree from pointer hell.
Any other olde geezers out there, but who remember a name for these? Or
know that it's truly a myth; S/GML is truly original?
