I don't know MySQL. But judging from the questions and answers other people have provided about it, it sounds like it began with a very incomplete implementation of SQL. That's disturbing to me, if true. There are many layers in a well built DBMS. If the layers that are exposed are faulty and incomplete, it's likely the same is true of the layers not visible.

The good news is that Jim Starkey, whom I mentioned in connection with Firebird, is now one of the core team members in MySQL development. In any event, MySQL internals might prove a good counterpoint to Firebird internals. Received on Sun Dec 03 2006 - 14:06:34 CET
