Since most potential clients have no way of measuring one's knowledge of theory and since most potential clients in north america confuse theory with idealism, most potential clients use alphabet soup of some sort or another to pick candidates.
This is especially so for full-time employment where the HR department's sole job is to restrict the number of resumes for further consideration.
