No, not at all. Relational systems are more powerful and general, compared to the latest hierarchical (xml) databases. But relational systems do have one major drawback: deploying interactive GUI-based applications is enormously time consuming and expensive.
When working over hierachical data models, it is indeed possible to generate automatically operational data entry and data query GUIs, without intervention by a programmer. If you could have your GUI cake and eat it too, you'd be a very rich man. Received on Mon Jan 30 2006 - 18:16:31 CET
