i have recollections of somebody trying to write a calender/scheduling application in the early 80s ... for the conference rooms in bldg. 28 (before research moved up the hill to the new almaden bldg). possibly somebody in the R-star group ... aka the original relational/sql system/r project http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/subtopic.html#systemr
had evolved into r-star by that time ... then i think star-burst followed r-star.
in any case, it wasn't pretty.
