Home -> Community -> Usenet -> comp.databases.theory -> Declarative XML Processing with XQuery (the future of SQL/XML integration?)
A future version of the SQL standard is expected to support the
integration of XQuery in SQL statements, and vice-versa. The W3C
announced XQuery has reached Candidate Recommendation status (after
five years).
Dr. Daniela Florescu of the W3C XML Query Working Group suggests a direction the industry should be taking with XML and XQuery processing:

Dana describes XML as more than a technology for documentation and data interchange. She suggests we haven't exploited XML to its fullest potential. She proposes the use of declarative programming instead of processing XML with imperative or procedural techniques. Received on Fri Nov 04 2005 - 18:51:27 CST
