Well, in the uni I attended (Trinity College Dublin), there were
people who were doing linguistics and maths as a joint degree (and
within maths, one could choose a heavy computer science element), and
it was also my understanding that the academics who would have tackled
these issues would have a grounding in both C.S and linguistics? No?
Speech analysis is a major field in C.S. for example.

some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
