Yep. And with all due respects to Computer Associates: Ingres is, if not dead, no match for MySQL or PostgreSQL. About as big a player in the RDBMS market as Advanced Revelation and Pick.
One of the best sources of information on Oracle and its history is in the books published by The Oak Table and they are anything but toady.
